March 2014

At our March meeting we listened to an appeal from Janet Sleigh who is the manageress of the Compton Hospice shop in Albrighton. They are in desperate need of help in the shop from anyone who can spare a few hours to support this wonderful cause.
Ray Sturdy presented a See and Hear quiz with questions and sounds that might be familiar. It was very well received and members entered into the spirit of it with bursts of song – and a bit of rowdy behaviour at times. All good fun.
There is great excitement for our meeting on the 8th April 2014 when members will hear from Tony Crowe on ‘Faberge – The Crown Jewellers to the Tzars’.
Members are busy preparing for our Annual Charity Coffee Morning on Saturday 12th April at 10.00am in the Red House. Homemade cakes, ready meals, jams, preserves and pickles will be on sale alongside plants, crafts and our usual exciting tombola. We raise in the region of £400 for a local charity, chosen by members, each year. Please come along and enjoy a cup of coffee and offer your support.
Twelve WI members turned up to support our new group ‘Wool Gatherers’ who meet in The Crown on the fourth Tuesday of the month and enjoy a sociable drink and chat whilst crafting.
