Well what a night!
Bollywood comes to Albrighton
Shivina and Kavita gave us two lively demonstrations of the expressive and graceful dances of India. Kavita explained how the many regions of India have their own interpretation of dance but all involved graceful movements of shoulders, arms and hands with lots of hip action as well!
After their first demonstration Shivina asked if we would like to have a go, everyone was keen so 40+ ladies of a certain age draped in colourful sari type scarves took to the floor. It was great fun and quite a work out. Shivina said we were very good ‘well she would wouldn’t she’. Don’t take her word for it have a look at the video (just a short clip for now, more to follow later) and photographs. The girls ended their presentation with another lovely dance and then we all had a cup of tea which was much needed after our exertions. Anne Woolridge had made some crispy cracker chocolate baskets topped with mini Easter eggs to go with the tea, delicious.
With feet back on the ground we have Dr Javad Hashemi coming to our May meeting talking on ‘The Goodness of King George 111’. We all tend to think of the madness of poor King George so this could be a whole new perspective on the man. Come along to the next meeting and join in, May 10th 7.30pm at the Red House. Don’t worry if you come by alone you will soon find yourself among friends.
