What an interesting and inspirational presentation from retired mental health nurse and author Kate McLarachan. She gave us so much information on ‘The Foundling’ institution that saw hundreds of women who had no option but to give up their children because they had no way to care for them. The children were often taken to a foundling institution and handed through a gate, their names were changed, and the only thing that some of them ever knew of their past was a token or piece of material that was attached to their records, but many had nothing. Certainly an eye opener on how things have changed over the years!
In November we have a change to our printed programme and will be welcoming Forensic Psychologist Bev Harris who will be giving us a light-hearted talk entitled ‘Detecting Lies and Deceit’.
