February 2014

Our February meeting is due to be greeted with enthusiasm when we hear from Alan Pearce about a journey from John O’Groats to Lands End – Bus versus Bike. The journey was a challenge between father and son as to who got there first. Will it spur on members to get active and make the most of those rusting bicycles gathering dust in the back of the garage or shall we just smile quietly to ourselves as we take to the roads of Great Britain with our bus pass in our hands? We’ll let you know.

On 11th March 2014 we will be tasked and tested by Ray Sturdy when he presents his ‘See and Hear Quiz’ to members. So we will be dusting out the cobwebs from the grey matter between our ears and taking on his questions. Do you fancy coming along to listen to this presentation? Several new members have joined us in recent months and have commented on the friendly welcome they have received. So if something has stirred your interest then come along to our meetings at 7.30pm on the second Tuesday of each month and make the most of that warm welcome that awaits you from Albric WI members in The Red House. The mouth watering refreshments served at each meeting, together with a welcome cup of tea, are always popular with our visitors and members.

Our Annual Charity Coffee Morning is due to take place at The Red House on Saturday 12th April 2014. Our usual stalls are expected including the wonderful array of homemade cakes, meals, pickles and preserves that are so popular with our customers.

We have many members with a vast range of skills and interests which they share with members and friends through our special interest groups of Art, Craft, Foodies and the Walkers. Members are enthusiastic about a new group planned to take place in the evening at a village pub where we can enjoy a sociable drink and chat whilst we do our crafting! These groups are open to all members and add that something extra to Albric WI. Shared interests are one of the many ways in which we can develop our friendships beyond the monthly meeting. If you want to find out more why not come along to our meeting next month or check out our website to see what we have been up to recently?

Do you have any ideas for interest groups? Or do you have skills and talents to share? You will more than likely find a few like minded folk at Albric WI to join you. Why not come along and meet us? You will be assured of a warm welcome and friendly face to greet you.

New members and visitors are assured of a warm welcome, an enjoyable evening and mouth watering refreshments. Visitors can attend for up to three meetings before joining.
