March 2026

March saw us welcome Rodney Paul to our meeting, Rodney is passionate about The Antarctic and gave us a very formative and thought provoking presentation on how the area has been explored over the last century. The explorers were names that we had all read about, but Rodney also reminded us of a Woman British Army Officer who broke the world record. Preet Chandi, known as Polar Preet, first made history trekking to the South Pole in 2021, and continues in her challenge to conquer Antarctica solo and unsupported.

Also this month some of our members enjoyed a lovely lunch at Origins Restaurant in Shrewsbury College, the food was prepared and served by students, and the lunch was a credit to all concerned. Both the walking group and craft group continue to thrive, and the craft group will be making bags for donations to The Haven Refuge in Wolverhampton, as members are collecting suitable necessary items for women who find themselves homeless.
