Emma Spencer was our speaker for January and she came along dressed in full Land Army Uniform – some of which was original. She gave a very interesting, structured and humorous account of women who spent their time ‘on the farm’. She explained in depth the links with the WI from its inception and development to its end. Emma was obviously passionate about the subject and told us that she was now the proud owner of a tractor that was designed especially for Land Army Girls, and that she was able to drive it skillfully within a matter of hours and has since joined a tractor club!!! We are also looking forward to our belated Christmas Meal at Rosello’s.
